Who are we and what do we do?
Who are we and what do we do?
Our approach is designed to ensure that children and young people feel safe, secure, accepted, understood, and free from judgment.
Bright Places provides specialist care for children and young people with a wide range of complex needs arising from early trauma, including the effects of parental absence, abuse, neglect, violence, and harmful social environments. These experiences can lead to significant emotional, behavioural, and mental health difficulties, increasing their vulnerability and impacting their overall development. Research has shown that childhood trauma—particularly interpersonal or violent trauma—can alter emotional and social information processing, accelerate biological ageing, and heighten the risk of both internalising and externalising mental health difficulties (McLaughlin, Colich, Rodman & Weissman, 2020).
We offer trauma-informed therapeutic residential care that helps children and young people find stability, build a sense of purpose, and understand how their experiences have shaped their sense of self. We support them to recognise what matters to them personally, empowering them to make informed choices and actively participate in their own care.
We aim to offer the highest quality of care and support, helping every young person move towards the Bright future they deserve.
